We don't want anyone to feel like they don't know who we are, because it's no fun to go to a wedding and hardly know the bride and groom. This way, when you're in the receiving line at the reception, you'll have some conversation starters to avoid any awkward silences.
Alyssa and Andrew met in the spring of 2003, dated for a very long time, and were engaged over Thanksgiving in the fall of 2005. Telling you any more would ruin the most interesting part of the wedding ceremony, so you'll just have to wait.
When they're together, Alyssa and Andrew like to ride bicycles, surf (badly), ski (less badly), read Gerald Durrell and C.S. Lewis, and watch Spooks (the best television show known to man). Andrew's favorite thing is to sit under the Piano while Alyssa plays, but sometimes she gets embarrassed, so he doesn't get to do this very often.
Because they have to be apart for most of this year, they're spending a small fortune on telephone calls, postage, and airplane tickets.
Alyssa is in her first year of medical school at Loma Linda University. So, at the same time she's planning a wedding, she's also going through one of the hardest educational programs in existence. But, she's brilliant and able to get a superhuman amount of things done in any given day, so she's on top of things.
Alyssa graduated last year from Walla Walla College with a BA in Music. She currently holds the distinguished position of being the only person to receive a standing ovation for playing a postlude at the College Church. Andrew got to turn her pages.
On days when she has a bit of free time, Alyssa likes to play the piano, grow bulbs in glass vases, listen to Feist, cook delectable dishes, and work her way through the Narnia series.
Andrew in his last year at Walla Walla College, which, as you may have guessed, is much to far from Loma Linda University. He's the editor of WWC"s student newspaper, The Collegian. In the spring, he'll graduate with a BA in English. At the moment he's trying to prove that Katherine's conversion in The Taming of The Shrew was inauthentic. Riveting work.
Andrew generally has more free time than Alyssa, and during that time he likes to work on breaking his previous record of 25 days skied in one season, take the occasional photograph, listen to Iron &; Wine, and catch up on his reading. His perennial favorites are Terry Pratchett, David James Duncan, Sarah Vowell, and Craig Thompson. He also cooks, but if we're going to be honest, his distaste for recipes leads to some pretty hit and miss meals.
